Every year, Presbyterian Women and other generous members of First Presbyterian Church donate gifts to residents of the Presbyterian Home health services center. Annual Holiday Benevolence Market on 12/06/2015 12pm to 2pm: Shop for symbolic gifts from Athens-area non-profit organizations! The Benevolence Market offers an alternative holiday giving experience. Instead of a traditional gift exchange, you can come to the Market and meet representatives from many local, non-profit agencies and donate items that these agencies need in the name of someone with whom you would ordinarily exchange gifts. Our youth group will be preparing and serving lunch at the Benevolence Market with all donations benefiting their 30 Hour Famine Fundraiser to support World Vision. Click here for more information. Please contact Carla Wilson Buss, via email or (706) 347-3536, with any questions.
Salvation Army Angel Tree: Stop by the Fellowship Hall and choose a child or children to help with their Christmas wishes. All donations need to be returned to the church no later than December 10th.
Live Nativity December 10th 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.: The Weekday School presents, along with First Presbyterian, our Fourth Annual Live Nativity. We will present the story of Christmas live in the parking deck with the holy family, the guests who visited the babe in the manger, and more than twenty animals including a camel! There will be live Christmas music, art projects for children, and light refreshments served. Free “tickets” will be distributed soon as an easy way to invite people to come to share in this lovely hands-on experience of the birth of Jesus! If you are interested in helping as a greeter, character, set up crew, break down crew, or refreshment host, please contact Elaine Johnson, Weekday School Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org or (706) 206-8180. Holiday Meals on Wheels: As you may know, we deliver Meals on Wheels on Thanksgiving morning, Christmas morning & New Year's Day morning. We have 16 routes to cover and it's best to have two people on each--one to drive and one to navigate. These routes fill up quickly, so don't wait TOO long. If you prefer, you can also make a donation to support the purchase of the meals. If you think you'd like to participate in this ministry, please contact Carla Buss.
