The Reverend Bob Googe currently serves as one of our two parish associates. His degrees include a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting) from Auburn University in 1987 and a Master’s In Divinity from Columbia Theological Seminary in 1994. Awards include The St. Andrews Presbyterian Preaching Award and the Evangelism Award at commencement in 1994. Bob was also named a Columbia Theological Seminary Thompson Scholar in 1997.
Prior to serving as parish associate, Bob was the pastor of Gum Creek Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) from 1994-1996 and was the Director and Campus Minister of the Presbyterian Student Center at the University of Georia in Athens, GA from 1996 – 2004. In addition to these positions, Bob worked for Arthur Andersen as a Recruiting Coordinator and a consultant from 1987-1994, and from 1997-2003, he served as an ad hoc professor for the University of Wiconson-Madison. Finally, he has edited and contributed to three books on a variety of subjects and has co-authored one book, Where There's Change, There's Opportunity.
Currently, Bob is the President of Athens Coffee Company, which owns five Jittery Joe’s Coffee Shops in Athens, GA. He is the CEO of Classic City Roaster, which roasts coffee for restaurants, and of café’s nationwide and Classic Coffee, which opens Jittery Joe’s Coffee shops on college campuses. He currently lives in Athens with his wife, Deborah, and daughters, Katie and Nicole.
