First Presbyterian Church of Athens invites you to Celebration Weekend September 10-12, 2010. First Presbyterian Church of Athens has completed construction of a new Fellowship Hall and Atrium and the renovation of the education building and the historic Tinsley-Stern House. You are invited to join us as we dedicate these new facilities to the glory of God and in the Lord’s service.
Friday, September 10, 2010—Community Open House
- 6:30 p.m. – Brass music on the front porch.
- 7:00 p.m. – Sacred Music for Choir, Chamber Orchestra and Soloists in the Sanctuary.
Child care will be available from 6-9 p.m. on Friday night. Following the music program, we invite you to attend a dessert reception and take guided tours of the church where instrumental and vocal music will be presented in several rooms around the building.
Saturday, September 11, 2010—Children’s Festival and Mission Outreach
Mission Outreach – We will gather for a delicious breakfast in Fellowship Hall between 8:00 a.m. – 9:00a.m. Saturday morning and then spend the day volunteering to make Athens a better place. These are the opportunities and contact person for you to call to sign up and help, or if you rather, fill out this form.
Children’s Festival – It will be a Children’s Celebration from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Join us for a day of fun featuring Pam Blanchard and the Sunny Side Up Band, inflatables including a giant slide, obstacle course, carnival games, face painting, crafts, animals, balloons, prizes, tours of the Weekday School and more! We will also be serving a fun hot dog lunch, popcorn and snow cones!

- 8:45 a.m. – Worship service with Alumni Choir and brass
- 9:45 a.m. – Reception in Atrium
- 10:00 a.m. – Dedication and cornerstone in front of the Atrium
- 10:40 a.m. – Congregation-wide photograph on the steps of the church
- 11:00 a.m. – Worship service with Alumni Choir and brass
- 12 noon – Luncheon reception in Fellowship Hall and tours
Extended child care will be available on Sunday from 12-2 p.m. for infants through 5-year-olds.
